Job description: Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Site Logistics Technician in West Hill, Ontario, Canada (Toronto).

Job Summary:

The role of the Site Logistic Technicians includes operating equipment and process related control systems in a safe environmentally responsible manner. The role involves optimizing plant performance by monitoring process equipment and conditions, conducting field checks, adjusting control systems manually and operated equipment based on process controls in a safe and efficient manner.

The Operators will work in various areas of the plant, providing support. This Operator role is based upon 12-hour rotating shifts, although straight days may be required for business needs. Initially, the positions will be in the pack, load, ship area of the plants, but there will movement into the chemical processing areas of the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain safe work standards.
  • Operate shunt vehicles to move empty/full trailers in and out of bays.
  • Operate and maintain fork lifts in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Transfer and load packaged goods onto dry van trailers.
  • Unload raw materials from tanker trucks.
  • Packaging line work, observe product quality and make required changes or corrections with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain and update accurate system records as needed.
  • Maintain orderly work and storage areas.
  • Perform light maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Load raw materials into Processing Vessels
  • Follow detailed Operating Procedures
  • Participation in Plant Emergency Response Team
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6 months of experience in a related role, with experience driving fork trucks or shunt vehicles in similar industrial environment.
  • Willing and able to participate on the Emergency Response team as needed.
  • Able to work 12 hour rotating shift schedule as needed.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.
  • A minimum requirement for this Canada based position is the ability to work legally in the Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.

Physical Requirements:
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Willing/able to work in a chemical environment.
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
  • Stand 50% of the time.
  • Walk for extended periods of time
  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
  • Work in tight and closed in spaces.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to a full face respirator.
  • Able to perform sustained manual activities at moderate to heavy levels of exertion.
  • Able to periodically work outdoors in extreme weather conditions (e.g. heat, cold).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of relevant industrial experience in chemical or related industrial environment.
  • Relevant college technical diploma or higher Degree, or relevant technical training or certification.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Proficient in computer software applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Be proficient in computers to perform job tasks.
