Placement Advisor

Role Profile
Reporting to the Placements and Partnerships Manager, the Placement Advisor is a proactive team member in the Faculty of Social and Community Services responsible for the delivery of field placements to students. The incumbent assists and prepares students for their placements through: written communication, individual meetings with students, seminars, presentations and events; external marketing to employers; internal liaison with college departments; community liaison; ongoing labour market research assessment; social media promotion and monitoring; facilitating the registration process for students; maintaining a database on cooperating employers and maintaining a database on current and graduated students.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Four (4) year degree or equivalent

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: human resources, counseling, recruitment or employment services, which demonstrates exceptional communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision are essential

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, exercise good judgment, work with interruptions, and resolve conflicts
  • Must be able to strategize in how to guide students, research new employment opportunities, create marketing materials, liaise between employers and students and plan placement networking events
