Job description: EXPLEO CANADA is looking for a Cell Materials and Processes Engineer to join a dynamic and expanding team in Mirabel, QC.
Responsibilities:
- As a member of a specialist group within the engineering team, support the aircraft program as a materials and process specialist
- Provide primary technical expertise and leadership in resolving design, certification, and compliance issues in interaction with the Supplier, Operations, Quality, Service Engineering, Customer Support and Compliance departments. supply chain
- Work in a multi-functional team on cost reduction opportunities, work on structural changes and ensure designs meet all material and process requirements
- Perform technical reviews and approval of technical drawings, manufacturing data sheets, qualification of forgings, test reports and qualification reports
- Ensure that overhaul activities comply with environmental regulations having an impact on the aircraft
- Provide clear visibility to management of status and / or emerging issues related to supported activities
- Work closely with Liaison Engineers providing timely technical expertise / M&P arrangements to a variety of manufacturing and assembly issues
- Collaborate with the M&P Core team of offsite specialists to resolve key technical issues
- Exchange information and collaborate with other FAL (Mobile) sites to ensure the sharing of technical knowledge
- Document the provisions on M&P work files
- This job opening is Monday to Friday (40 hours), however you will be asked to support the evening shift as well as weekends on a rotational basis for MRB support.
Qualifications:
- Degree in materials engineering, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, or chemical engineering
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the aerospace industry directly related to the use of metallic and composite materials in aeronautical structures. Previous experience with certification of a new aircraft is an asset
- Be available to support the evening shift as well as weekends on a rotational basis for MRB support
- In-depth knowledge of materials used in the aerospace industry, understand the mechanisms of wear, corrosion and are comfortable with the methods of assembly and protection of aerospace materials
- Practical experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Testing of metallic materials and establishment of authorizations.
- Familiarity with the qualification of forgings, extrusions, castings, and other forms of materials
- Good understanding of aerospace surface finishing including plating, anodizing and organic finishing
- Selection, qualification, and installation requirements of aerospace fasteners
- Be comfortable with aerospace industry standards such as SAE ASTM and OEM specifications, exposure to federal and military specifications could be an asset
- Strong leadership, problem solving, project management and time / priority management skills in your previous assignments
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in English and a good understanding of French
- Be able to work in a cross functional team environment and interact daily with other professionals and technicians
- Good working knowledge of computer software such as CATIA, Enovia and Microsoft Office
- Experience of the Material Review Board (MRB), an asset.
