Reporting to the Manager of the Regional Sexual Assault /Domestic Violence Care Centre, the Registered Nurse will be responsible to provide immediate medical and crisis care to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. Please note this position is required to work all shifts and On Call based on departmental needs
Requirements:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BCLS
- Demonstrated skill and experience in physical assessment
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of crisis intervention skills and use of sound, independent clinical judgement
- Sensitivity to and demonstrated understanding of the issues sexual assault and domestic violence clients will encounter and reactions they may experience
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), listening and teaching skills
- Ability to advocate for clients and effective liaison with community professionals is desirable, i.e. police, shelters, etc
- Demonstrated effectiveness as interprofessional team player
- Able to work independently
- Available for the on call team
- Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
- Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and report hazards
- Engage in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
- Excellent work performance and attendance
Asset:
- Baccalaureate level preparation
- Membership in related nursing/clinical professional organizations
- Ability to speak another language
- Experience working with SA/DV clients
- SANE certification
