Job Description

The Women’s College Hospital Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care (WIHV) aims to improve heath by working to develop, implement and evaluate innovations in clinical care and policy. Our philosophy is to engage and collaborate with all players in health care to deliver tangible solutions that improve the health system as a whole. Summary of Duties, but not limited to:

  • Coordinate evaluations for the virtual care program and Centre for Digital Health Evaluation (CDHE) hosted at WIHV including large, multi-centred research studies
  • Create project plans for Manager sign-off including scope of work and timelines
  • Prompt relevant team members to stay on task, and work to complete assigned tasks, in advance of deadlines
  • Assist with the creation of budgets and costing forecasts for project proposals, and track same
  • Facilitate meetings including developing agendas, running meetings and taking minutes
  • Proactively identify barriers/threats/risks for project completion and work with team members to develop solutions
  • Compile relevant documents and forms for approval by the Manager, including: invoice templates, purchasing/procurement requisitions, and project status reports
  • Prepare periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by investigators, administrators, and funders
  • Liaise with research sites, Ministry of Health stakeholders, healthcare providers, patients, and WCH staff in furtherance of research objectives
  • Communicate with sites to assist with the preparation and execution of contracts
  • Coordinate necessary data flow between internal and external collaborators
  • Coordinate with WCH Research Ethics to determine appropriate practices for WIHV’s unique projects and research designs; submit and maintain ethics applications both internally as well as submissions to external organizations and track approvals
  • Assist in protocol development and grant development
  • Conduct and synthesize literature reviews for academic publications, grant proposals, and public dissemination
  • Coordinate and assist with qualitative and quantitative data collection, including assisting with interviews as per study protocol, and preparing data for analyses
  • Apply theoretical frameworks when analyzing qualitative data in accordance with study protocol
  • Collaborate with team members to write and edit presentations, reports, proposals, and publications
  • Represent WIHV at conferences and external stakeholder meetings; present results of research at public forums

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in health sciences, public health and/or other health-related discipline, Master’s preferred
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ progressively responsible and related experience working in a research environment
  • Experience coordinating between multiple agencies in policy or research settings
  • Experience with health sciences research and research ethics (REB) process
  • Experience with technology-based health-related companies an asset
  • Knowledge and proficiency with the MS Office applications including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and data collection and analysis software
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong multi-tasking, time and project management skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure with strong judgment and decision making skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision; highly independent
  • Demonstrated interest in health system solutions and health care delivery innovations.
  • Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria
  • Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital
  • This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
