About the position
The Faculty of Education invites applications for a two-year Limited Term Appointment (LTA) in the Department of Educational Studies in the area of Mathematics (Elementary Education) at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment, subject to budgetary approval, will commence as early as August 01, 2021.

Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess:
An earned doctorate in education (ABD candidates will be considered) or equivalent expertise; Excellent verbal and written communication skills;Current knowledge of elementary mathematics education;An understanding of or experience with teacher education preferably in Ontario;An established or emerging potential to develop and maintain a research agenda in mathematics education or teacher education;Elementary school teaching, research, or other relevant professional experience;A valid driver’s license and/or means to travel to off-campus locations for instructional purposes and;A satisfactory police record check.

Qualifications considered an asset:
Experience teaching mathematics education (blended and face to face) courses at the university level;Experience facilitating the professional learning of prospective or practicing JK-12 teachers in mathematics;Active participation in professional organizations in mathematics education;Ability to collaborate with other instructors and researchers;Experience with the use of digital technology in mathematics education.Knowledge and commitment to Equity, Diversity, Decolonization, and Inclusion.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach mathematics methods courses in both the Primary/Junior and Junior/Intermediate programs. The successful candidate may assume leadership of the PJ mathematics program and may supervise practice teaching.
