The South Health Campus (SHC) is providing service to Calgary in all areas. The SHC is more than just a “hospital.” It is a campus environment and includes inpatient, outpatient, and wellness services, as well as prevention and public health learning opportunities for the community. The Rapid Access Unit (RAU) is a unit that is specifically staffed and equipped to receive medical patients presenting with acute non-critical medical illness for expedited multidisciplinary team and medical assessment, care and treatment for up to a designated period of time prior to transition home or transfer to an inpatient unit where appropriate. In this model of care, the patients are identified early and resources are loaded upstream in the patient’s journey with a focus on strong coordination and transition back into the community to support more effective patient health outcomes. As a Casual Health Care Aide, you will work as a member of the South Health Campus Rapid Access Unit (RAU) team collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals and families. The successful candidate will assist in caring for patient needs with the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, preventing illness, injury and disability or supporting a peaceful death.

Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA) – Nursing Attendant, you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 Diploma required. Graduation from an educational program using the Provincial Curriculum for Health Care Aides required. Current successful completion of BCLS-HCP is required. Registered in the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory required. Demonstrated strong organizational and interpersonal skills required. Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year experience, in the last 3 years, on an acute medicine unit preferred. Knowledge and experience working in a Collaborative Care Hub (CoACT) preferred. Working knowledge of SCM preferred.
