Do you want to learn a wide variety of technical skills while working with a highly collaborative development team?

As an Intern – Software Developer you’ll be paired with an experienced Software Developer as your mentor who will be your guide as you learn our wide range of technologies while becoming a core developer on one of our product teams. We leverage preferred technologies to deliver software solutions to our pension and investment professionals and as well as tools to enhance our internal development capability. During your time at Ontario Teachers’ you’ll also have time to explore new technologies unrelated to your regular project work and deliver presentations on those technologies as well as other project work to our development team. At the midpoint of the term you may have the opportunity to transition to a new team, providing exposure to different technologies, team members, and solutions.

Who you’ll work with

Collaboration is integral to your work at Ontario Teachers’ and you’ll be working with people as much as you’ll be working with code. Joining the Solution Engineering team, you will work in a small project team to deliver software solutions. With support from a mentor, you will have the opportunity to engage with colleagues from across the organization; such as business leads, the project delivery team, and other technical specialists within the architecture, development and infrastructure teams.

What you’ll do

· Collaborate with your team members and customers on defining the solution architecture and design

· Develop and integrate software solutions and technical tools

· Deliver business services using technologies such as Java, Spring, C#, .NET and Python

· Learn the real-world usage of version control and code reviews (Github), automated build (Maven/Jenkins), and continuous integration (Atlassian Bamboo)

· Track your work using our issue tracker (JIRA) and share your designs on our wiki (Confluence)

· Participate in new technology investigation and apply this knowledge through solution delivery

What you’ll need

· Program of study in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering

· Professional software development experience from previous work terms (preferred but not required)

· Strong design and coding skills

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Experience using object-oriented programming patterns and designs, with exposure to technologies such as: Java, C#, Python, C++, Ruby Angular, React, JavaScript frameworks MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle databases What you’ll need
