SUMMARY
The Sales Engineering Training Director will lead the development of training & enablement to ensure our Sales Engineers are set up for success as subject matter experts & trusted advisors. This position requires a highly motivated individual who will have the opportunity to design, develop, manage and roll out technical pre-sales engineering training for BlackBerry products to all internal and partner SE’s.
The successful individual in this role should have advanced knowledge of Cybersecurity, Cloud Security, End Point Management and Security Operations along with detailed knowledge and expertise of the ‘Technical Selling Motion’ that a Sales Engineer would follow. The person should love working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and shifting priorities and possess deep knowledge of learning and training development processes.
This program will include focus on:
- Soft skills (leading meetings, delivering virtual whiteboards etc),
- Product knowledge (pitching & positioning, ICD technical training (101), SME (201, 301), NPI knowledge transfer)
- industry expertise (cybersecurity, ransomware, machine learning etc.)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development and delivery of a training curriculum that addresses knowledge and skill gaps and drives the success of the Sales Engineering organization.
- Design and implement a comprehensive onboarding program for the sales engineering teams, incorporating well-defined quantitative and qualitative success metrics such as time to ramp and time to effectiveness
- Effectively partner with CSO, SE Leadership, Product Marketing and NPI to ensure there is a highly coordinated set of resources and programmatic method for sales engineers to be up-to-date with a consistent set of messages.
- Work with SE leadership to conduct an analysis of current skills, processes and knowledge and work to identify strengths and areas for development
- Work with SE leadership & HR to develop a progression path for Sales Engineers to become accredited, distinguished or recognized for subject matter expertise
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- University Degree or equivalent and minimum 10 years with a BS/BA or 8 years with a MS/MA
- A clear passion for delivery and customer satisfaction, driven by the ability to see the “big picture”
- 5+ years working as a Sales Engineer or a courseware developer creating courses for Sales Engineering.
- 5+ years managing programs and working cross-functionally to lead launch plans
- 5+ years of instructional design experience and excellent knowledge of learning development methodologies
- 5+ years experience in cybersecurity/cloud security-related products and platforms used to secure enterprise and cloud infrastructure
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including strengths in meeting objectives through influence, facilitation and team building
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders
- Ability to handle stressful situations with a level-headed approach, and to effectively leverage and balance workload of available resources
- Apply innovative, creative and conceptual thinking as needed to analytical tasks
- Ability to plan long term and have a strategic vision, while also managing the execution of the current requirements and projects
