We currently have a Temporary Full-time (until approx. March 2021) opportunity for a Social Worker position in the Brain Sciences – Thompson Centre department at our Bellwood Health Services campus.

Hours of Work:

Mon- Fri; 8-hour Day shifts with some evening/weekend work as required

Summary of Duties

The Frederick W Thompson Centre, within Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, is a specialized program treating Obsessive Compulsive and related disorders. We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to join our inter-professional team for an 18 month contract, providing intensive day, residential and virtual treatment to those with severe OCD. The social work role is integral to our collaborative model of care including; provision of individual and family counselling; conducting group work including psychoeducation for families; discharge planning for patients within the program; completion of psychosocial assessments; consultation/collaboration; teaching; participating in program development and evaluation.

Members of the team are also given opportunities to gain experience in facilitating treatment groups for related disorders such as BDD, TTM, and Hoarding through collaboration with the Thompson Centre outpatient team.

Qualifications/Skills

· Masters Degree in Social Work required

· Must be a current member in good standing with the OCSWSSW

· Minimum 5 years’ previous experience working in a mental health care setting required; experience within inpatient, day hospital or residential settings considered an asset

· Demonstrated knowledge of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and related disorders; as well as anxiety disorders more broadly

· Demonstrated skill set in the provision of family counselling and support

· Proven excellent assessment, counselling and problem solving skills essential

· Demonstrated working knowledge of cognitive-behavioural therapy and its application in mood and anxiety

· Superior communication, negotiation, mediation and collaborative inter-professional team skills required

· Well-established knowledge of relevant health care system processes and community resources required

· Superior time management, organization, and prioritization skills in addressing multiple tasks and timelines in a fast-paced environment required

· Proven commitment to person and family-centred care essential
