Job description: Rocket Science is a boutique visual effects studio collaborating with filmmakers to create stunning visual imagery utilizing artistry, science and technology. We are looking for Surfacing Artists who will work with the 3D Assets team for hero hard surface assets and props.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ability to create and manage UV/UDIMs.
• Adept usage of both Mari and Substance Painter a must.
• Working knowledge of support maps and initial look dev
• Excellent Hard Surface texture skills are required, Creature and organic are also an asset.
• Work closely with the Supervisors and Art Director to create the look and qualities of hero hard surface assets.
• Ability to create support maps for look dev of assets.
• Ensure that deadlines are met by making sure Surfacing files are complete and ready for lighting throughout the project
• Provide continuous updates about any changes or problems about the project with the CG Supervisors
• Maintain on a daily basis files names and structures by adhering to the digital file management system.

Qualifications:

• At least 2-5 experience in a live-action photo real VFX Environment
• Strong UV-ing skills
• Strong painting skills and an artistic eye for detail
• An understanding of both television and film VFX production pipelines.
• Look Development skill is an asset
• Strong knowledge of the following: Mari Substance Painter/Designer. Knowledge of Redshift, Arnold, Zbrush, Mudbox, Photoshop, Mental Ray, Clarisse, Nuke are an asset.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve in a fast paced environment
• A team player with excellent communication skills.
