We are looking to fill the Deployment Specialist / Devops Engineer position with an individual who is internally motivated to pursue excellence with respect to the job responsibilities, and who will continually be considering ways to increase his or her own efficiency and the team’s productivity. This position requires the ability to persistently engage problems and provide meaningful solutions that balance both innovation and consistency of process. This individual will need to be able to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and oral mediums. The job responsibilities are primarily server/application deployment and support. The applications that we support is LifeWorks’ internally developed application suite.

Responsibilities:

  • Triage and analyze issues relating to Morneau Shepell’s benefits application.
  • Performs application deployments, configurations, and support for all environments.
  • Deployment automation scripting (Primarily Powershell and Bash)
  • Aid existing team members for routine tasks.
  • Server Configuration, AD Configuration, SQL Server Management, etc.
  • Respond to and assess performance issues.
  • Troubleshoot application issues in test and production environments.
  • Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
  • Monitor, optimize, and allocate physical data storage systems.
  • Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
  • Create, or support creation of, required reports in response to business user needs.
  • Perform application and server security audits.
  • Work as a member of technology team providing technical support, infrastructure development and/or other technical services such as quality assurance, network support and/or systems administration.
  • Performs analysis on business requirements and produces technology design as required.
  • Sets high standards for own work and ensure high quality outcomes are achieved.
  • Prepares project estimates and schedules of project activities as required.
  • Overtime / after-hours may be required during peak seasons.

Succeeding as a Development Operations Engineer will require the following core qualifications and skills:

  • Knowledge of Octopus and/or Azure Devops Pipelines
  • College/University degree in the field of computer science and/or 5 to 10 years equivalent work experience.
  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting MS SQL and analysis services, T-SQL, and SSIS.
  • Ability to conduct research into standards and products as required.
  • Solid understanding of hardware; system software and utilities, network communications; Microsoft database technology and computer operations
  • Must have excellent technical skills and knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating system.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify application issues, including performance issues.
  • Familiar with N-Tier Applications (utilizing IIS web frontend, .Net Services, SQL Server DB backend)
  • Extensive Knowledge of Scripting (including analyzing and developing) (VBScript, Bash, Powershell, etc)
  • Experience with domain environments (Active Directory or LDAP)
  • Familiar with N-Tier Applications (utilizing IIS web frontend, .Net Services, SQL Server DB backend)
  • Familiar with .NET development (VB.Net or C#.Net)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure/AWS and other Cloud technologies.
