POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE:System Support Analyst – Servers
DEPARTMENT:Information Technology
REPORTS TO:Assistant Manager, Information Technology
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
The Systems Support Analyst – Servers provides technical support to all gallery staff members on existing and new deployments of server based technology including MS Exchange, virtualization, storage and other server administration duties. This role will also participate in the assessment of gallery-wide departmental systems and provide secondary technical and end-user support to specialized systems as required.
TASKS:FREQUENCY
Administers and maintains the gallery’s email messaging and collaboration system (MS Exchange Server). Implements policies and procedures for ensuring the integrity and availability of this system.
- Coordinates testing and installation of new versions of Exchange Server, evaluates and install patches and updates.
- Administers distribution lists and creation and modification of user accounts.
- Troubleshoots problems relating to exchange including e-mail delivery and mailbox size or corruption issues.
- Performs backups and monitors system configuration and operational status.

Installs, configures and upgrades windows server operating systems. Coordinates testing and installation of new versions of windows server, installs patches and updates. Gives input and recommendations on new server hardware for future installations.

Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data; implements solutions or notifies external providers as required. Troubleshoots problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required.

Experience with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintains current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary.

Performs daily storage administration, maintenance, troubleshooting and monitoring functions for all parts of the SAN storage infrastructure including but not limited to zoning, storage allocations and cabling. Works on critical storage related projects as well as troubleshoots all storage related issues. Assists in upgrades and migrations for disk arrays, switches, and servers. Assists with monitoring and reporting for SAN storage in reference to performance as well as usage and trends analysis.

Maintains knowledge of current and upcoming new technological advancements. Identifies requirements and prepares proposals for major enhancements and maintenance work for the implemented systems

Assists in the assessment of security and PCI Compliance requirements for departmental or user data; recommends and implements appropriate security levels

RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of directly related administration role with experience and knowledge of client/server systems with emphasis on MS Windows Servers (2008, 2012, 2016), Microsoft Client Operating Systems (Windows 10) and MS Exchange Server platforms (2010 and above).
- Directly related high-level knowledge and experience supporting and administration on disaster recovery, anti-virus and backup strategies for the MS Windows platform.
- Strong knowledge of SAN/NAS storage architectures, FC/ iSCSI protocols, Virtualization platforms (VMWare, Hyper-V, etc.)
- Experience perform administrative tasks pertaining to server builds, operating system upgrades, capacity planning, performance tuning, resource optimization, vendor fixes and monitoring.
- Experience supporting mission critical systems 24x7x365 including rotational on-call for after-hour and weekend support.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise with mobile devices including Apple iOS and Android mobile platforms.
- Experience in developing systems process, procedures and documentation to ensure on-going maintenance and compliance of production environment and day to day activities.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skill, and proven experience interacting and influencing colleagues across various functions and levels of the organization.
- Well-developed time management skills, and ability to prioritize across multiple project teams.
