Reporting to the Technology Services Manager or designate, this employee will assist and support the department in providing broad technological and information systems support. As a one-stop service department, Technology Services supports and coordinates office and database systems, deployment of new software and hardware, maintenance and operation of databases and GIS systems, production of asset and mapping information, network, and server support. The incumbent in this role works in cooperation with other departments to meet reporting needs as well as maintaining applications to meet the changing and expanding needs of all departments.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Completion of Grade 12 and Post-secondary education from a technical institute or college/university in Computer Science, GIS, Geomatics, Computer Information Systems, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and knowledge.
- Significant experience using ESRI ArcGIS software including ArcGIS for Server, ArcGIS for Desktop, and ArcGIS for Mobile and experience with creating, maintaining, and administrating Enterprise Geodatabases.
- Knowledge of municipal GIS principles, standards, methods and techniques for data capture, retrieval, conversion and storage; system analysis procedures and understanding of information technology hardware and software capabilities and uses; computer languages including SQL, Python, and HTML; and relational database management systems and spatial data models.
- Experience working in local government and/or knowledge of commercial drone operations would be considered assets.
- Ability to work under pressure handling problems, tasks, and changing priorities which come up simultaneously and/or unexpectedly;
- This position is considered a position of trust within the Municipality and the successful applicant must successfully pass a Police Information Check.
Status/Hours/Shifts
Full-time; Permanent: 35 hours per week; day shift (Monday to Friday). Occasional overtime may be required.
Rate
Engineering Tech: $35.24 to $39.39 per hour as per the collective agreement; 90% probationary rate may be applicable depending upon applicant’s current status.
