Job description: Overview
The Data and Process Analyst – Accreditation is responsible for providing quality data, effective processes, analytical support and services and reports to the Faculty of Engineering for accreditation documentation of the Engineering and Architecture programs to a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to programs, Graduate Attributes Lecturers, Associate Dean Co-operative Education and Professional Affairs and the Associate Dean of Undergraduate studies. The Data and Process Analyst – Accreditation is also responsible for streamlining and building processes for accreditation documentation to support student success.
Responsibilities
Data Acquisition
- Understanding, collecting, and transforming all relevant data across the necessary domains
- Designing, documenting, streamlining and automating appropriate data acquisition channels and processes
Data Collection, Processes, Analysis, and Reporting
- Streamlining and automation of existing and new operations
- Creating a reporting dashboard for accreditation
- Creating a curriculum documentation system
- Developing reliable and flexible data analytics and reporting tools
- Analyzing program data using security and confidentiality best practice methodologies and consistent definitions to support evidence based decisions
- Leveraging statistical tools for data analytics and reporting to assist programs
- Researching new tools, systems and practices to recommend ongoing improvements in data analytics and processes
- Preparing documentation and reporting to stakeholders
- Training of stakeholders in data management
- Updating and maintenance of accreditation documentation
- Communicating data and analysis to stakeholders
Data Warehousing and Infrastructure Development
- Developing and implementing standard operating procedures to create, organize, store, document, extract/export, convert, merge and manipulate large and small data files
- Investigating, identifying and resolving data anomalies and discrepancies
- Leading the design, implementation and ongoing enhancement of a sustainable user-friendly system to house, manage, manipulate, analyze and report data and trends related to accreditation and curriculum improvement
- Developing the necessary models and projections to support accreditation audit, curriculum improvement, including data definitions and reporting methodologies
- Ensuring that the Faculty of Engineering acquires, develops and maintains knowledge of best practices and tools needed for data acquisition, transformation, maintenance and analysis
Communication/Knowledge Translation
- Providing data management, analysis and reporting training to stakeholders
- Providing data analysis and reporting to stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Computer Engineering, Management Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Design Engineering or equivalent education and experience
- 3 year of progressive experience performing duties related to data and process improvement, automation, analysis, management and reporting, and application of data/statistical methods
- Demonstrated experience in client service, teamwork and leadership
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse units
- Demonstrated ability to build consensus, diplomacy and managing competing priorities and time demands from multiple sources
- Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate processes
- Broad understanding of process automation, data management tools and statistical methodologies and analysis
- Critical thinking skills and a natural curiosity to understand processes and data relationships
- Comfortable with predictive and descriptive analyses and narratives
- Knowledge of a wide array of data sciences, including coding, database, statistics, visual analytics, modeling
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with multiple stakeholders; prepare reports and present findings
- Comfortable in working independently
- Knowledge of Advanced Excel is required
- Familiarity with SQL would be an asset
