We’re on the hunt for a Systems Engineer on our Geointelligence team.

We are seeking a System Engineer to continue to evolve MDA leadership in ground movement monitoring, as well as support the communication of measurements made from interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) analyses of mines, oil and gas reservoirs, pipelines, cities, and critical transportation and infrastructure.

Located in our Ottawa Office the candidate would join a highly motivated team of analysts who provide continuous, operational monitoring to clients around the world. The successful candidate will augment the InSAR analyst and software development team by supporting product development, algorithm improvements, and quality control processes. The candidate would have an applied research background in order to support focused product and algorithm improvements.

MDA is a leading provider of Interferometric ground movement measurements using proprietary software solution to generate quality measurements.

MDA is one of the earliest InSAR technology developers and our InSAR analytics have been recognized worldwide. Our world-leading proprietary InSAR processing software and robust production environment are responsible for the successful implementation of these projects, providing high-resolution and quality products to a wide range of clients.

Position Description:

MDA is seeking a proven System Engineer with experience in SAR and InSAR processing to support the continued evolution of our services and production environment.

The successful candidate has experience in solving complex problems and transitioning solutions into an operations environment. Working with a team of InSAR analysts, customer requirements and software developers, the candidate will contribute to the evolution of our services into new areas, and new product offerings.

Responsibilities:

As a System Engineer for InSAR Services, you will:

  • Work with the team of Geotechnical / InSAR analysts to provide support in difficult areas of analysis.
  • Develop new approaches to improve current production processes and end client products.
  • Develop and/or oversee the implementation of new or improved algorithms into Operational workflow and environment
  • Keep engaged in the latest research for new areas of algorithm and product development
  • Write and present papers, attend conferences, customer presentations
  • Support writing proposals and generating winning bids for future InSAR work.

Requirements (experience/skills):

  • A University degree or diploma from an accredited institution in Engineering, Applied Science or other relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in systems engineering.
  • Knowledge of Digital Signal/Image Processing is essential
  • Strong mathematics and physics skills are essential
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Knowledge and experience working with Satellite Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) (RADARSAT-1 and –2; Sentinel-1, etc) is an essential
  • Knowledge of Interferometric analysis and its use within an applied application area is essential
  • Computer programming/scripting skills is an asset
  • Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or R are an asset
  • Ability to work to tight schedules
  • Ambition to grow in the organization
