Mission

The senior engineer will be required to work on structural engineering projects for institutional, commercial, and residential buildings of various sizes, with the assistance of highly qualified and experienced engineers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as a design engineer and project manager in the area of building structure.
  • Carry out studies and draft reports, technical evaluation documents, proposals, drawings and specifications, tender documents, and construction documents.
  • Supervise the work of less experienced engineers and technicians in the framework of assigned projects.
  • Determine construction costs and quantities, in compliance with standardized methods and established specifications.
  • Evaluate various materials or work processes and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Participate in construction work supervision activities.
  • Makes recommendations for the payment of completed works.
  • Attend multidisciplinary technical meetings related to projects.

Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or an equivalent, with a major in structural engineering
  • Master’s degree in structural engineering with academic training in finite elements, structural dynamics, and earthquake engineering (an asset)
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • In-depth knowledge of codes and standards governing building structural engineering
  • At least 15 years of experience in the area of complex and very tall buildings
  • In-depth knowledge of standards and calculation methods for steel and reinforced concrete frameworks
  • Knowledge in the design of wood frameworks (an asset)
  • Strong aptitudes in structural evaluation and analysis
  • Thoroughness and proactivity
  • Strong interest for working in a context of comprehensive approach (design, cost estimates, construction schedules, construction feasibility, work supervision)
  • Excellent practical knowledge of analysis and calculation software for building structures, as well as MS Office suite
  • Command of the French language (spoken and written)
  • Knowledge of the English language (an asset)
