The Medavie Total Rewards team is passionate about bringing in a Compensation Consultant that will bring subject matter expertise in the design and delivery of innovative compensation programs that will enhance the employee experience. In this role, we are looking for an incumbent that will have the aptitude to successfully lead projects from start to finish that support Medavie’s compensation philosophy.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Consults and acts as the Subject Matter Expert and develops creative solutions on compensation-related questions, policies, guidelines, processes, and job evaluation working both with HRBPs and directly with the business
  • Completes annual compensation surveys, provides in-depth analysis and recommendations, and develops presentation materials
  • Builds relationships with both market survey vendors and industry colleagues
  • Participates in the job evaluation committee in-order-to maintain an equitable compensation structure
  • Leads and participates in in-depth analysis on the effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation programs and policies and the impact of new and current programs, assists in developing programs and practices within Total Rewards that consider internal equity, affordability, and market data
  • Participates and completes year-end related compensation activities in partnership with OD which include salary budget recommendations, annual base pay, and bonus cycle processing, preparing comprehensive market analysis reports and developing tools, guidelines, and related communication
  • Works with key stakeholders on the review and design of both sales and non sales bonus programs while ensuring that the programs are effective, align with the business strategy, develop communication, evaluate plan effectiveness, and operationalize compensation governance processes and policies including dispute resolution
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of internal salary structures and compliance with Ontario and Quebec Pay Equity
  • Continual process improvement to ensure quality service delivery and alignment with business needs
  • Keeps current with internal and external compensation design, practices, and policies
  • Develops and delivers compensation communication and training to the business
  • Manage medium to large scale projects or process improvement activities (adhoc or within Total Rewards) including program design, analysis, budgeting, developing project timelines, tracking project plan, implementation and measuring success
  • Coaches other total rewards members
  • Participates in any system changes

What You’ll Bring To This Role:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of solid experience in compensation consulting and sales compensation with an in-depth knowledge of core compensation best practices and design
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels and have strong influencing skills
  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Finance, Accounting, mathematics, business, or equivalent experience, and CCP designation
  • Advanced MS Excel skills required (forecasting, modelling, pivots, macros), proficiency in Word and PowerPoint
  • Previous experience using HRIS-preferably SAP and Workday and openness to learning new technologies as well as prior experience working on HR Technology projects
  • Expertise in using point factor Job Evaluation methodology and knowledge of Ontario and Quebec Pay Equity
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy including skill with numeric detail, excellent problem solving to resolve complex situations coupled with the ability to see the broader picture
  • Excellent analytical skills both quantitative and qualitative, resourceful research skills and financial modelling skills
  • Ability to create dynamic tools and models to interpret and analyze data and ability to connect disparate data sources and operationalize tasks. Comfortable with large data sets.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), presentation, and consulting skills
  • Ability to build relationships as a trusted partner with internal clients and external vendors
  • Project and time management expertise and proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment while being flexible and adaptable
  • Confident to work independently but will be a strong team player
