Firmware QA Manager, Platform Firmware Integration, Validation & Verification (IV&V)

The Role:

The Platform Firmware Engineering group is responsible for development and enablement of Platform and Content Firmware and security features across the software stack including device drivers, firmware, and application level interfaces. The group is responsible for supporting the entire range of AMD products including APUs, CPUs and GPUs, enabling customers to build driven solutions. The firmware includes (but is not limited to) AMD proprietary peripherals, multimedia, graphics, power management and security firmware.

Within the Platform Firmware Engineering organization, there exists an Integration, Validation and Verification (IV&V) function, that is responsible for Firmware CI/CD activities, firmware release management into AMD SBIOS, VBIOS and Graphics Driver components, and automated test frameworks.

The Person:

• The Platform Firmware IV&V team is in search for a Technical Firmware QA Manager and CI/CD Firmware architect who is going to drive the expansion and next generation scaleout of the existing Jenkins based CI/CD framework.
• This is a high visibility, high impact role to help evolve the CI/CD architect to continue meeting the growing needs of 200+ firmware developers and 30+ firmware components.
• The individual must have prior QA Management, DevOps, CI/CD architecture development experience and the right mix of technical and people skills to navigate interactions and requirement definition with the various firmware teams that IV&V provides support for, as well as strong liaison and daily interaction with AMD Customer Quality Engineering (CQE) and IT/SW Infrastructure teams
• In addition to other responsibilities, the successful candidate will be owning our existing Data Center Lab spaces in Markham and be responsible for managing equipment CAPEX/OPEX budgets and equipment procurement, inventory and end-of-lifecycle handling

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) will be a considered an asset
• Experience in Embedded or Firmware build Environments will be considered a major asset
• Experience in QA Management including Test Planning and Test Execution and Reporting strategies
• Extensive knowledge in PC configuration (both Software and Hardware)
• Exhibited working Familiarity with JIRA, Kanban boards and AGILE/Scrum concepts
• Familiarity with Linux and Windows scripting and configuration
• Familiarity with Security / Fuzz / Penetration testing will be considered an asset
• Familiarity with Test Automation will be considered an asset

Academic Credentials:

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 1-3+ years of experience leading a QA team
