Job description: What you will do

Under the general supervision and in collaboration with the local team and the regional operations department, the project manager is responsible for the management of one or more construction contracts in the context of energy-efficient projects, respecting deadlines, adequate management and documentation of changes to the scope of work, financial management of the contract, as well as the development and maintenance of relationships with clients and subcontractors.

As a project manager, you will play a key role in the realization of the contracts that will be entrusted to you. The following expectations define your responsibility:

  • Monthly forecast of project income
  • Realization of projects within the planned margins
  • Adequate and timely invoicing of the project
  • Respect of the project implementation schedule
  • Maintaining the level of customer satisfaction
  • Manpower and subcontracting management
  • Efficient documentation management

How you will do it

You will carry out sales support activities from the start of the tendering process and will be asked to give your comments on the choice of suppliers / partners, to optimize the scope of work and to carry out the risk assessment, etc.

You will prepare cost estimates and budgets, project schedules and manage the entire construction of the projects assigned to you. You will ensure projects are completed accurately, on time, and billed while on budget and within contract scope. You will ensure that profitability targets are met and that cash flow is positive.

You will understand the scope of projects and customer expectations. You will use resource planning techniques to achieve the best possible productivity from each member of the team.

You will have in-depth knowledge of complex business / contractual structures, legal and financial transactions and the supply chain.

You will participate in the monthly financial review of projects in the region, as required.

You will create an execution plan for each project assigned to you and stick to it. You will establish points of communication with clients throughout the projects in order to obtain their feedback and establish their level of satisfaction. You will build long term relationships with customers. You will demonstrate leadership in focusing on customer satisfaction.

You will effectively communicate the status of projects for which you are responsible to the local team and the Regional Operations Manager, as needed, and provide monthly project revenue, cost and gross margin forecasts.

You will promote and maintain good working relationships with Johnson Controls subcontractors and partners

You will ensure compliance with provincial and federal legal obligations.

You will ensure that the energy solutions business meets the highest ethical standards.

You will sponsor and lead the Johnson Controls safety program for employees and contractors at all levels.

It is essential to ensure a presence on the sites during the execution phase you will be required to travel occasionally.

What we are looking for

Required

A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in construction project management.

Responsibility for a medium or large-scale project, management of contractual commitments in place with contractors, in particular costs, quality and respect of deadlines and coordination of their activities on site.

Ability to communicate fluently in French and English (oral and written).

In-depth knowledge of complex commercial and contractual structures, legal and financial transactions and skills in purchasing, negotiation and high-level relationships.

Ability to convince, negotiate and influence other people.

Valid driver’s license.

The candidate will be required to submit to the Government of Canada Market Security Program and obtain a Level 2 Reliability Status (Secret Level) to maintain.

An asset: Certification in construction project management (PMP)
