Job title: Health and Physical Education Instructor
Job description: We are looking for an energetic and attentive Physical Education Teacher. You will work with students from K to G12, one to one or in smaller groups, plan lessons based on the Ontario English curriculum, and take on responsibilities for students’ development.
The teacher will create a positive climate for learning Physical and Health Education from JK to High School. The Physical Education teacher is skilled and educated in physical education and athletic training. Knowledgeable about the human body and a wide variety of sports for example; basketball, gymnastics, football, baseball, tennis, aerobics, soccer, and track & field.
Responsibilities will include:
Prepares, develops and implements engaging lessons plans for students consistent with the Ministry of Education curriculum;
Has the capacity motivate students to perform physical activities while making them competitive and cooperative at the same time.
Uses a variety of teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students;
Incorporates a variety of visual aids, textbooks, creative projects and technology to gain and enhance student involvement;
Evaluates each student’s learning and performance through physical and skill development, class assignments and tests;
Provides additional instruction and support when necessary;
Fosters healthy relationships with students and faculty to create an enriched learning environment;
Maintains effective communication with students, parents and faculty;
Completes required record keeping such as student attendance, grades and report cards.
Job Requirements: An Undergraduate Degree with an area of specialization in Physical & Health Education or equivalent;
A Bachelor of Education Degree at the Primary/ Junior/ Intermediate level with qualifications to teach Physical and Health Education;
Experience teaching Physical Education at the Primary/Junior/Intermediate levels;
Demonstrated passion for health and wellness;
A thorough understanding of current educational practices in the areas of curriculum planning and assessment;
Strong interpersonal, organization, communication and time management skills.
