Position Summary

Under direction of the Manager, Academic & Campus Technology Services, the Audio-Visual Technology Specialist provides comprehensive, front-line technology support of AV, Smart Classroom and Computing systems. This includes on-site troubleshooting and maintenance of multimedia audio-visual equipment and systems in technology-enhanced classrooms. The incumbent carries out minor repairs or workarounds and assists the AV Technology Specialist and Humber IT&S service delivery specialist team in major repairs, maintenance and upgrades, as necessary.

This position also provides key production support for virtual events, videoconferencing, video streaming, and lecture capture support, coordinates digital video and audio activities, including monitoring incoming and outgoing picture and sound feeds for streams as well as digitizing, duplicating, and storing audio and video data. The incumbent trains faculty and staff, and students in the use of classroom technologies. The incumbent also serves as lead technician in the absence of other supervisors on matters relating to classroom and event support services, especially on weekends.

The incumbent is also responsible for researching instructional technology developments, proposing solutions, independently assessing and resolving all types of recurrent and unique problems related to A/V, Smart Classroom and all other facilities with AV technologies. The incumbent will work in collaboration with the ACTS team and other departments to further enhance the learning environment at the University.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a 3 year diploma in a related field along with min. 5 years of practical experience working in an educational environment which includes an in-depth knowledge of AV, Crestron, Smart Classroom, virtual conferencing software such as Zoom and Teams, computing and sound amplification system technologies. The successful candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be customer service focused and have strong organizational and time management skills.
