About the Role
The Corus Entertainment/Global News technical team is seeking a candidate for a full-time Broadcast Technologist contract position based at Global Edmonton, reporting to the Supervisor, Technical Services. Applicants will have proven technical skills and an ability to work well with all customers of the technical department. Successful candidate demonstrates our Corus Entertainment values. As the operation is 24/7, this position will require shift work, including weekends. The position is a 6-month leave coverage with the possibility of extension. This position is group E in the collective agreement.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot and maintain a variety of broadcast systems, facilities and equipment.
- Maintenance and repair of Over the Air transmitters (OTA) in remote locations.
- Maintain, repair and periodically operate the Microwave and Satellite uplink trucks.
- Contact outside contractors for building related services.
- Ensure the quality and timeliness of projects assigned.
- Maintain a consistent standard of quality control.
- Document and implement all installations.
- Provide Business / Broadcast IT / Network systems support.
- Scheduled shifts will include days, evenings, weekends and or any part of the day or night as required.
- Represent Corus and Global Television in a professional and courteous manner.
- Perform other duties as required.
About You
What we need from you:
Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- Graduate of a recognized post-secondary Technologist and or Engineering program.
- Passionate about working in the Broadcasting or technical industry.
- Be able to perform well under stressful conditions.
- The ability to troubleshoot Electronic systems.
- An understanding of digital video/audio signals and their integration into Broadcast Systems.
- Working knowledge of content acquisition, editing and production.
- Easily navigate, understand and maintain system flows with technical CAD drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs Outlook, Visio, Word and Excel is a required asset.
- Skill set to create CAD drawings for installation of systems and equipment.
- Team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a passion for building and maintaining working relationships.
- Ability to work independently or within a team.
- Excellent communication skills to work with outside vendors and suppliers.
- Weather systems and traffic camera installations require physical lifting and ladder work to access.
- Possess a valid class 5 GDL driver’s license and clear driving record.
- Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology, workflows and integrating systems.
