Job description: Position Overview
The Community Health Sciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Associate. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Manager, Operations.
This is a recurring part-time position with variable hours, including evenings and weekends. Recurring part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.
Position Description
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
Supports manuscript preparation
Communicates efficiently and effectively with investigators and team members
Responsible for reporting on projects and producing final reports
Performs complex analyses within appropriate timelines, using their expertise with R, meta-analysis techniques, or other relevant software for analyses
Assumes responsibility for data security, confidentiality, and data accuracy
Multi-tasks and appropriately allocates time for this and related projects
Participates in an environment conducive to world class development and scientific research
Provides leadership in data science, epidemiology concepts, and related content
Functions with minimal supervision and communicates regularly with the team
Participates and fosters a culture of communication, collaboration, efficiency and creativity
Assist with plans and designs for specialized applications to meet the needs of operations, research, and services
Produce initial drafts of manuscripts for publication and appropriate scientific journals
Conduct literature reviews, surveys, data analysis and interpretation, and other research for use in scholarly publications
Qualifications / Requirements:
Master’s-level degree in health services research, epidemiology, public health, or a related field
A Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other professional clinical role an asset
Strong knowledge of epidemiology, epidemiological study design, and standard biostatistical analysis techniques; experience with survey data is a particular asset
Exceptional communication and coordination skills
3 to 5 years of related technical experience within the research specialty field
1 to 3 years of supervisory experience
Clinical experience is an asset
Ability to perform detailed design, documentation, and implementation of moderately complex technological systems
Ability to provide technical support for other team members through advice on technical issues
Direct and demonstrable research experience in the subject matter of the research project is essential
Ability to conduct systematic literature reviews, create REDCap surveys, Delphi panels for consensus building, chart review, moderately complex qualitative and quantitative analyses
Perform detailed design, documentation, and implementation of moderately complex technological systems
Recommend change to processes or procedures
Lead other members of the team and undertake literature reviews
