Job Description/Requirements
JOB DESCRIPTION
The overall purpose of this role is to be a hands-on lead to the Inventory and Film Finance teams within Finance. Within the Inventory team, this position will partner with key employees in Supply Chain Management and Global Theatre Services based in Mississauga, ON. Within the Film Finance team, this position will partner with key employees in Film Distribution and Film Production based in California.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Inventory
- Supervision and leadership of Inventory team and the accounting for theatre system inventory and cost of sales, which includes:
- Financial accounting and analysis for all theatre system installation costs;
- Accounting for inventory transactions;
- Partner with Supply Chain Management and Global Theatre Services to ensure standard costs are reviewed at a regular cadence and reflected accurately in SAP, ensure timely information regarding decommissioned systems and impairment reviews, and to support the business in various continuous improvement initiatives;
- Manage, review and approve reconciliations, analysis and preparation of monthly and quarterly Inventory and Costing schedules, and preparation of documentation to support the financial reporting process and annual audit
- Build and maintain strong relationship with key employees in Supply Chain Management and Global Theatre Services
- Partner with Supply Chain Management on variance analysis, year-end inventory count process and reconciliation
- Review and approve reconciliation of job costing modules and clearing jobs to accrual, cost of sales and/or fixed assets
Film Finance
- Supervision of Film Finance accounting personnel and first review of the financial statements for the DMR, Film Distribution and Film Post-Production segments
- Oversee the financial accounting and analysis for the Company’s portfolio of Film Assets, including DMR, documentary and alternative content titles:
- Tracking and understanding box office forecasts with key employees in Film Distribution
- Application of individual-film-forecast amortization method to various film assets
- Performance of periodic film asset impairment testing
- Ensure a timely and appropriate Finance response to key projects such as IMAX Live/Alternative Content, IMAX content production & DTC app, among many others that routinely emanate from Playa Vista
Leadership and Partnering
- Provide leadership and direction to direct reports
- Assist with cost reduction and process improvement projects, establish system controls, and develop and document procedures to improve existing business processes
- Lead and support various Film Production and Supply Chain Management projects, playing a strong business partner role, evaluating accounting, system and reporting impacts
- Key audit lead for Inventory and Film Finance, liaising with external and internal auditors
- Work closely with Tax team on certain initiatives, including Film Tax Credits
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Business/Commerce or equivalent
- CPA designation with in-depth experience in costing and inventory accounting experience
- Proven track record in developing and leading people – 8+ years of experience in managing people and/or processes
- Excellent level MS Word and Excel skills
- Proficiency in inventory software and hands on experience working in an ERP in a manufacturing setting; ideally experience working in a complex SAP environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Influencer, with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Detail-oriented and analytical
- Maintains ownership of responsibilities and takes initiative
- Needs to be able to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Must be available to work overtime as required (ex. month-end, quarter-end, year-end)
