The Manager Finance – ENMAX Power is responsible for leading the finance support for ENMAX’s focus on maintaining the transmission and distribution system which serves customers in and around Calgary.
This role will have the opportunity for leading, coordinating and managing ENMAX Power’s accounting processes and reporting. This includes detailed analysis of results, stakeholder consultation/collaboration and buy-in, and reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors.
Major Responsibilities:
Management of financial reporting of the regulated revenues and costs for both ENMAX Power’s regulated transmission and distribution businesses
Build and lead a team responsible for financial accounting, customer billing, and the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting to stakeholders
Participate in transformation of finance team to a business partner service organization
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the ENMAX Power team and shared service areas to ensure a strong control function and the provision of a coordinated business partner function
Ensure income statement and balance sheet accounting is following IFRS and regulatory requirements. Participate in the analysis and recommendations when new IFRS and regulatory standards are being proposed or options of treatment are being reviewed by management
Liaise with fixed asset accounting to provide accounting advice to ENMAX Power business unit leaders to support structuring of projects and interpret capitalization guidelines and impact on regulatory filings
Coordinate tasks and information requests such as corporate budgeting and reporting with shared services team members
Analysis of Alberta Utility Commission (AUC) decisions and common utility practices to determine impact to financial statements
Mentor and support staff in a manner that builds and strengthens employee relations and commitment
Identify and implement a continuous improvement and customer service culture for both internal and external parties
Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree and professional accounting designation (CGA, CMA, CPA or CA)
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in financial and analytical roles
Experience in supervisory/leadership capacity within a rate regulated industry would be a strong asset
In-depth and detailed knowledge of the Alberta regulatory framework and Alberta electricity market
Progressively responsible experience in regulatory utilities rates, administration and customer service would be a strong asset
Understanding of the wider Alberta utilities sector, its structure, composition, stakeholders and relevant policies
Ability to produce and deliver effective presentations and summaries to both senior management and external stakeholders
Deep understanding of IFRS accounting standards
Strong and proven financial and quantitative skills
Competencies:
Strong people leader and team player, with the ability to motivate teams as well as partner and work with all business units and operations
Process design and improvement experience and skillset
Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to working in a rapidly changing environment and is comfortable proposing, justifying, initiating and implementing change

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 – 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
