The Director of Technology is responsible for the execution of IT strategic objectives. This position manages high performance teams responsible for delivering key initiatives on our integrated technology roadmap. The successful candidate will have the ability to effectively review new technologies for inclusion into Vancity integrated technology roadmap to ensure Vancity remains innovative, creative, and abreast of technology trends.
In this role, you will report into VP, Technology. This competitively rewarded role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your B.C. based home office.
A typical day will involve:
- Designing and implementing technological strategies that enhances business technology services and end-user experiences.
- Provide leadership, direction, and guidance, creating and maintaining a productive work environment that fosters innovation. Ensuring employees have the appropriate skills and tools to perform their jobs.
- Engage and collaborate with other department and divisional leaders, driving the Vancity Integrated Technology roadmap.
- Effectively estimate effort and manage resources to deliver technology roadmap on time, with quality and on budget.
- Employing effective risk management practices in alignment with Vancity’s overall risk management framework.
You have:
- Business acumen in the context of the financial industry with a Post-Secondary Education/Diploma in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
- Research and analytical skills to assess and recommend course of action on technological trends, and to identify risks and opportunities that may impact the business unit and or designated area.
- Problem solving and decision-making skills to lead diagnosis of critical challenges; develop integrated business solutions; and to assess and risks and opportunities that may affect functional area
- People leadership skills to develop strength in reporting leaders and staff in development of critical competencies; to oversee performance management; and to model valued leadership behaviors.
- Planning and coordination skills to establish functional strategies, tactical plans and initiatives; and to lead development of integrated solutions, services and programs.

You are able to coach staff in sales, advice, referral and service delivery, to model a positive member experience, and to address member complaints.
- Detail and Data oriented – you thrive on data analysis, can assess trends, data, and insights to build impactful training/skills development programs to improve overall quality of service and sales effectiveness of member facing staff
