General Information on the Position

#Team

The Insurance Risk Management team in the Modelling and Research Competency Centre (MRCC) is looking for a candidate to join as a Senior Actuarial Advisor. Are you interested in working in a multi-disciplinary team with people from various backgrounds (statisticians, actuaries, data scientists, GIS experts) in a motivating environment in which we focus on developing our people? Then you may be the one we are looking for!

#What you will do:

As an MRCC Senior Actuarial Advisor in the Insurance Risk Management team, you will be responsible for:

Performing analyses on different sources of data (structured and unstructured) using advanced predictive modelling techniques

Leading research projects for internal stakeholders (ratemaking, corporate actuarial, commercial, underwriting, innovation squad, etc.) with the goal of innovating and creating value for our clients

Advising on potential solutions for various industry-related issues and help to position, plan, develop, execute and monitor strategic projects and initiatives

Developing or improving existing processes and programs currently in place

Keeping pace with new advancements in advanced analytics and applying them to your work

Communicating the assumptions and results of your analyses effectively to various internal stakeholders and management

Representing the actuarial department on decision-making committees and meetings and, occasionally, on industry-related working groups or academic collaborations

Coaching members of the team.

Other working conditions

Work place: Position located in Montreal, Levis, Mississauga or Toronto, depending on the applicant selected. The work arrangement for the position is hybrid work #LI-Hybrid

#What you bring to the table:

Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics

A minimum of six years of relevant experience in property and casualty insurance

Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics (an asset)

Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

ACAS or FCAS title (an asset)

For vacant positions available in Quebec, please note that knowledge of French is required

Specific knowledge

Extensive knowledge of actuarial, statistical and of machine learning principles (regressions, decision trees, gradient boosting, etc.)

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Knowledge of various programming languages such as SAS, R, SQL, Python

Strong communication skills in both French and English, both oral and written due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with French-speaking partners, members and/or clients
