As a member of the Rail & Transit team, you will be given opportunities to use your transferrable skills to define processes, create execution plans, mentor the junior team members, and be the technical lead for multiple projects. A day in the life:

  • Design, layout, construction, testing, and commissioning of railway track, including special track work and integration of supporting systems for North American heavy rail operations relating to mainline, passenger equipment maintenance and train storage facilities;
  • Review designs in Navisworks/C3D software(s);
  • Perform interdisciplinary coordination between other disciplines including traction power and train controls, traffic and structural engineering, permitting, and utility relocation;
  • Design geometric alignments, computed earth work volumes, and prepare quantity estimates for various highway and railroad projects;
  • Other duties as assigned/required.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Engineering;
  • Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 years of experience;
  • Experience in the design, layout, construction, testing, and commissioning of railway track;
  • Capable of working with C3D for track alignment, corridor modelling, and sub assembly creation;
  • Able to work with LIDAR point clouds, manage, verify, and control surveys and ground surface data for design requirements;
  • Capability to review design in Navisworks/C3D software(s), prior experience in alignment design and corridor modelling;
  • Ability to mentor and guide team of junior staff and designers;
  • Significant experience in reviewing and/or preparing various reports and other correspondence related to project technical issues, witnessing and/or coordinating tests and inspections of the trackwork components and systems, and evaluating their performance;
  • Solid aptitudes in preparing and reviewing contract documents, including construction drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
