Department Overview

The TD Securities Strategic Analysis and Support team is part of the Wholesale Banking (TD Securities) Finance group and is responsible for the management reporting of results for the Wholesale Bank and its Regional Offices (e.g. the U.S., Europe and Asia), developing the Wholesale strategy and related presentations, financial planning, and providing research and analysis support for our business partners.

  • Proven track record of implementing value-added process improvements to increase shareholder value and improve guidance to senior management.
  • Understanding of capital markets and the TD Securities products and businesses is preferred.
  • High level of proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Alteryx and Tableau is an asset
  • Understanding of the Bank’s management and financial reporting processes; proficiency with Hyperion is preferred (i.e. prior experience in running Hyperion queries)
  • Post-secondary degree in Business or Finance
  • Accounting or industry specific designation is preferred (i.e. CPA, CA, CMA, CGA, CFA, MBA)

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Analysis & Support, the Senior Analyst in this role is responsible for providing financial analysis, advice, and support to the Wholesale Banking business, with a primary focus on the U.S. region and accountability to U.S. business and Finance stakeholders. A successful candidate works independently, has an inquisitive mindset, takes ownership of their work, and is detail-oriented.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Lead the production and analysis of the U.S. Monthly Operating Results (MORs) and Flash for senior management, providing insights on key drivers of results
  • Liaise with our Finance and business partners (e.g. Corporate & Investment Banking, Global Markets, Expenses, Regional Offices) to gather relevant information in order to understand and prepare relevant financial commentary
  • Lead the annual planning process for the U.S. Wholesale segment, by understanding the regional businesses’ strategies and growth opportunities and liaising with Finance and business stakeholders to develop the related plans and forecasts.
  • Conduct industry research and prepare competitive analysis presentations for senior management on the global Wholesale business’ performance relative to our Canadian and U.S. peers
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team’s processes, and be able to execute on those opportunities in a controlled and risk-mitigated manner, with guidance
  • Identify key issues or business opportunities requiring research, determine answer(s) in consultation with relevant stakeholders and provide meaningful information in response to issues / questions raised to drive decision-making.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with key business / finance partners and other stakeholders and effectively communicate relevant / meaningful recommendations to senior management
