The Opportunity

As the leading authority on hedge funds in Canada, the firm is looking for a talented Associate to join our Portfolio Construction Consultation Services (PCCS) team. As a part of the PCCS team, you will assist investment advisors to clearly define their investment goals, diagnose unintended risks, and implement a portfolio construction process that is disciplined, consistent, defensible and efficient.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

  • Conduct detailed analysis with a focus on portfolio construction and risk management to assist with asset allocation, portfolio structure and implementation across multiple asset classes and strategies
  • Design and generate various analytical reports related to portfolio construction, risk management and performance attribution while ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Assist in the daily operation of Picton Mahoney’s Portfolio Construction Consultation Service, working with the Sales, Product, Quantitative Research, Investment & Marketing teams
  • Participate in the development of new projects related to portfolio construction, risk management, and performance attribution
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from Sales, Investment, Product and Marketing teams
  • Work closely with the Head of Portfolio Construction Consultation Services to drive the growth of PCCS within the Canadian investment advisory community

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 3-5 years experience in portfolio construction, risk management, performance attribution or other related areas
  • Degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, quantitative finance, computer science, or related discipline
  • Ability to use quantitative tools and techniques to analyze data
  • One of CFA, FRM, CAIA designation, equivalent postgraduate degree or enrollment in one of the programs preferred
  • Programming experience in a data science/statistical programming language a plus
  • Highly motivated team player as well as a strong individual contributor
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit
