CLIENT TECHNOLOGY MANAGER – COLLABORATION

Location: Regina, Saskatchewan

POSITION OVERVIEW

Accountable for architectural and design leadership in Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure focusing on driving the development of detailed IT Infrastructure architectures and designs in support of corporate, external customer and partner projects. Responsible for consulting with internal and external clients to provide expertise in delivery of IT Infrastructure solutions. Accountable for development of quality, timely and viable IT Infrastructure solutions to meeting SaskTel’s strategic goals.

LEADERSHIP ACCOUNTABILITIES
People

  • Leads, directs and manages staff to ensure the effective use of HR resources. Maximizes performance by selecting (hire external or promote from within), developing, mentoring and sustaining a high level of expertise among staff. Organize and direct work including prioritizing assignments, establishing objectives, providing regular performance feedback, conducting year end performance appraisals and taking necessary corrective action as may be required. Assists in staff career planning, establishes development and succession plans and ensures relevant HR procedures and policies are followed (provisions of the collective agreement, performance appraisals, discipline, grievance, etc). Accountable for provisioning and managing contracted resources as may be required.
  • Accountable for promoting a productive and positive environment for staff that encourages innovation, teamwork, initiative and models corporate values. Motivates staff by assigning challenging work, planning and managing internal communications and awareness of corporate direction, mission, plans and activities.
  • Ensures all safety, health, environmental and code of conduct policies, programs and standards are understood and complied with at all times.
  • Proactively identify and action opportunities to increase customer satisfaction (internal and external customers).

Financial

  • Ensure sound financial control within area of responsibility by developing annual operating and capital budgets, monitoring performance to budget and taking action as appropriate. Develops, negotiates and implements contracts for acquisition of goods & services related to area of responsibility.

Innovation

  • Accountable to research, develop, define and implement innovative long and short term plans, policies and objectives. Provides expertise to senior management providing education, studies and consulting on opportunities that will impact business strategy. Ensures alignment and integration with the corporate strategic plan and develops plan and operational metrics, including approaches for demonstrating business value.
  • Accountable to proactively identify and action opportunities to improve revenue and growth initiatives, decrease costs, increase customer service levels and increase employee engagement.
  • Accountable to develop opportunities to spark innovation in technology or product service delivery or process improvements.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Accountable for development of detailed IT Infrastructure plans and architectures to support corporate, external customer and partnership opportunities. Works in conjunction with IT Infrastructure primes from across server, storage, database, network and infrastructure application groups to deliver designs that consider risk, financial impact, skillsets and timeliness for delivery of a quality solution.
  • Review project architectures with supporting subject matter expert groups for compliance with standards and policies.
  • Provide consulting for IS strategic plan and Holdco Technology Strategy deliverable development. Create detailed implementation plans for execution of Infrastructure strategies.
  • Accountable for maintaining both personal and team technical expertise associated with this position and for introduction and dispersion of this knowledge within SaskTel. This includes providing technical assistance with seminars, workshops, on site training, formal training, and direct consultation.
  • Evaluates the impacts of changing business drivers on the IT Infrastructure and advises enabling and client areas on focus areas for new requirements or changes.
  • Maintains a comprehensive depth and breadth of knowledge for relevant current and future technologies and best practices for incorporation into SaskTel’s IT Infrastructure as applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Information Technology, Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; or, a Technical Institute diploma in Information Technology and extensive experience in a related position.
  • Extensive knowledge of IT best practices and enabling technologies with extensive experience in the application of information technology principles and techniques, IT architecture and planning methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strong analytical, business and technical leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability and significant experience in developing business and technical recommendations.
  • Strong team leader and member, able to work effectively in chairing or serving on multi-disciplinary committees while influencing the performance of others.
  • Knowledge of the Telco industry, SaskTel departments/subsidiaries organization structures, operations and relationships.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate/monitor the implementation of high profile projects.
  • Professional certification as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Information Systems Professional (ISP) or equivalent designation is desirable.
