About the Position:
This positions falls under the Initiatives / Opportunities Letter of Understanding in the Support Staff Collective Agreement working 35 hours per week and reports to the Manager, Employment Ontario and Cooperative Education from June 2021 to June 2022.
Night and weekend hours may be required occasionally. The incumbent will be required to travel extensively within Lambton County and periodically within the province in this position. This position will work between main campus and Community Employment Services in Petrolia.
Specific Accountabilities:
- Assist employers with their recruitment needs by marketing a full range of Employment Ontario and Post Secondary programs offered by Lambton College;
- Responsible for identifying and establishing new business contacts, professional associations, trends, challenges and opportunities associated with the development of part-time, full-time and co-op employment opportunities;
- Responsible for contacting new business prospects utilizing effective sales and marketing strategies, both traditional and non traditional, meeting or exceeding specific targets as determined by the Department’s annual goals.
- Responsible for representing selected key accounts by maintaining and building long term relationships on the foundation of solid knowledge of clients/students’ technical capabilities, funding resources and other College wide services;
- Responsible for developing and implementing annual business development plans to secure sufficient, quality time employment opportunities for clients, students and graduates;
- Complete monthly reports and other documentation as required; set and achieve annual targets in relation to employment opportunities secured;
- Coordinate and conduct marketing strategies and outreach activities to local employers, community agencies, and other organizations;
- Facilitate face to face meetings/presentations with small to medium sized business owners, senior /intermediate level management (i.e.: HR Directors, Plant Managers, Operations Directors, ect.) from a variety of economic sectors, representing all Employment Ontario and post secondary program offerings;
- Regular participation and coordination of employment and industry events, job fairs, conferences, trade shows – locally, occasional participation provincially and nationally to promote programs and generate employment opportunities for students and clients;
- Utilize research skills to assist the College regarding new program development as it relates to employment prospecting, gathering discipline specific labour market information and feedback from the business community.
Qualifications:
- Three-year post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field of study i.e. Business Administration, Human Resources, Marketing, or Social Science, is required;
- Minimum of five years’ experience in sales, marketing, job development, public relations or employment assistance; preferably in a post secondary or employer services setting.
- Knowledge of Lambton College Employment Ontario programs, program offerings, Canadian Labour Market, employment trends, and prospect development techniques;
- Have demonstrated experience in sales, negotiation, building partnerships, innovation, coaching and facilitating change;
- Proven track record of meeting goals in a demanding, target-based sales environment;
- Established relationships within the community with employers, community organizations and industry specific associations an asset;
- Experience coordinating events from inception to completion, employment event coordination an asset;
- Must be a results-oriented individual with the ability to motivate and inspire self and others;
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; with the ability to establish rapport with participants, employers, staff and students;
- Ability to work and make decisions independently as well as demonstrate a high level of initiative is essential;
- Excellent communication skills as well as sophisticated persuasion and negotiation skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Internet research skills, e-mail;
- High degree of professionalism and diplomacy;
- Valid Ontario G driver’s license and access to a reliable motor vehicle during working hours is required
