About the Role
Corus has an exciting full time opportunity for an Intermediate Accountant based in our Toronto head office. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager of Affiliate Revenues, this role is part of a team that supports the Affiliates revenue team and leads our month end processes.
As the successful candidate, you have a proven track record for driving continuous improvement in a strong internal controls environment. You have excellent communication and analytical abilities, as well as demonstrated high level of accuracy with excellent attention to details.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for monthly subscriber functions that include:
- Tracking and analyzing subscriber revenue variances
- Assist/verify General Accountant’s subscriber entries
- Generate and review subscriber invoices
- Tracking and analyzing revenue adjustments and receivable balances
- Prepare monthly revenue journal entries.
- Work with various departments including:
- Credit and Sales Department for any remittance questions
- Content Distribution team for any subscriber related analysis requests.
- Work with other teams within Finance for any subscriber related questions and requests.
- Coordinate with Cable companies on payment and/or remittance inquiries, and issue resolutions.
- Participate in the Month and Quarter end close processes, reconciliations and reporting, including providing variance commentary support.
- Participate in the annual budget and monthly forecasting process
- Update actual subscriber numbers into forecast workbook for the Planning department
- Assist with testing for Medea system updates/upgrades
- Work with both internal and external auditors by preparing the quarterly audit packages.
- Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects as required
- Train new members of the team.

About You
What We Need From You:
- University or College Degree and enrollment in CPA is preferred
- 3-4 years practical work experience with a publicly traded organization
- Strong computer skills in Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, macro)
- Experience with Great Plains accounting software an asset
- Previous broadcast/subscriber revenue (Medea) experience an asset
- Team player with strong interpersonal communication skills having the ability to work effectively and efficiently with all levels of management in a professional manner
- Being results oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities with conflicting deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and financial skills in a changing environment
- Must have extremely high level of accuracy with excellent attention to details
