Your role

This position assists in the management of the financial resources for the Distribution Division of the CBC & Radio-Canada Media Solutions Group, with the objective of allocating resources to maximize profitability.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development, preparation and administration of all Distribution budgets. This position will also investigate causes of significant budget-to-actual variances, summarize findings and prepare recommended corrective action where required.

This is a contract position for 12 months.

The key functions of this position include:

Assists in the development and preparation of business plans and annual budget.

Downloads monthly revenue reports, organizes data & reconciles payments received.

Co-ordinates implements of partnership agreements and solves administrative problems.

Sets up contract files for new syndication partners & liaise with Finance to initiate invoicing process where needed. Monitors process to ensure invoicing is as contracted.

Maintains file of original business contracts & contacts and ensures all stakeholders have up-to-date copies.

Tracks and analyses monthly revenues in comparison to target. Prepares a detailed YTD and forecast document with variance analysis.

Produces revenue reports detailing syndication revenue by partner, by platform and by genre. Reconciles same with SAP.

Ensures revenue is deposited in correct revenue centre and account in SAP. Takes corrective action when necessary.

Prepares monthly budget and cash flow forecasts.

Prepares monthly and quarterly reports.

Investigates department actual-to-budget variances and obtains explanations where required.

Prepares monthly journal entries including accruals, adjustments for prepaids, and deferred revenues, transfers etc.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

University Degree in Business or equivalent

At least 2 years of related experience

Solid working knowledge of accounting principles and practices

Working towards a recognized accounting designation

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and SAP are required

Ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret large volumes of numerical data for non-finance stakeholders in the Distribution Division

Accuracy and attention to detail

Ability to solve problems and provide workable solutions to Management

Ability to work with various systems simultaneously

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Strong organizational skills

Superior customer service and communication skills

Demonstrated initiative, creative problem-solving techniques and ability to exercise good judgment when working with stakeholders and making decisions

Desire to improve efficiencies and help drive sales through analysis and use of appropriate financial metrics
