Our team is growing and we are looking for a highly motivated Analyst, Real Estate Finance & Capital Markets to join our Real Estate Finance & Capital Markets team based out of Head Office in downtown Toronto. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager and will be responsible for debt reporting/ analytics, and onboarding/ debt management. You will be a key member of an engaged, high-reaching team—part of a world-class, winning culture that prioritizes people development and focuses on long-term growth.
Our ideal candidate is someone with 1-2 year’s of work (or co-op experience for recent grads) in accounting, looking to move into an analytical back-office support role.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
Debt Reporting & Analytics (75%)
Preparation of monthly PowerBI dashboards for senior management and various internal stakeholders for the global debt portfolio
Preparation of key debt reports to internal stakeholders including the debt reconciliation to the accounting records, the debt continuity schedule and other key debt reports to Oxford and OMERS stakeholders
Conducting portfolio analysis and sensitivities such as bridging opening to ending period debt balances and monitoring interest rate movements to determine the forecasted impact on interest expense, hedging and mark-to-market positions and other debt portfolio metrics
Assist in calculating the quarterly mark-to-market of Oxford’s global debt portfolio and maintaining a live mark-to-market forecast
Working with the regional financing leads to determine assumptions to be used in the annual budget and quarterly forecasts and ensuring these assumptions are correctly entered into the system by the accounting team
Supporting the Investments and Asset Management teams on dispositions, including determining prepayment rights and calculating expected prepayment penalties upon sale
Working collaboratively with the Treasury team in maintaining a live liquidity forecast which captures the impact of expected financing activity on Oxford’s overall cash needs
Calculation of quarterly financial covenants and maintaining forward looking covenant forecasts
Process improvements and technology enhancements to develop reporting systems and tools
Responding to ad-hoc requests from Accounting, Asset Management, Investments, Strategy, and other internal teams
Onboarding and Debt Management (25%)
Reviewing relevant sections of executed debt agreements and completing onboarding procedures, including entering key details into Oxford’s debt reporting software and ensuring newly onboarded loans are correctly reflected in Oxford’s consolidated reporting
Building out financial covenant test templates, documenting lender reporting requirements, summarizing prepayment rights, and following up with financing leads, lawyers, and lenders to ensure documentation is archived
Maintaining an inventory of statistics on Oxford’s global financings such as gross financing activity, financing fees paid, and other lender relationship data
Skillsets / Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting or Economics (completion of CPA designation or actively working towards CPA designation an asset)
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (basic financial modelling skills, can organize and extract key information from large data sets, confidence in building PowerPoint decks)
Exposure to Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI or Tableau
Exposure to reviewing and synthesizing contracts
Clear, personable, and effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
Can articulate a basic understanding of accounting, finance, and debt related concepts
Self-starting personality that can work in a fast-paced, growing organization with tight deadlines
Strong documentation and organization skills and a high level of attention to detail
