Purpose of the role
Primary responsibilities for this Analyst in Sustainable Finance include supporting the team in the generation of new business opportunities and successfully executing on mandates, with a focus across Latin American markets. The role will involve collaborating with a broad range of groups, including external clients as well as a variety of internal stakeholders, to develop sustainable finance products and initiatives.
Accountabilities
- Support client marketing efforts and execute on mandates across all sustainable finance products and industries with a focus in Latin America;
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Scotiabank to develop sustainable finance initiatives and explore product development opportunities;
- Maintenance of detailed databases, client presentations, market communications and internal reporting;
- Create sustainable finance product frameworks (green, social, sustainability, transition, KPI) for a cross-section of issuers (corporate & public sector);
- Maintain current knowledge of evolving ESG and global sustainable finance market developments (taxonomies, legislation, ICMA principles);
- Provide insightful thought leadership for both clients and internal stakeholders including market commentary, opinion pieces, recommendations and ad hoc analysis; and
- Manage external collaboration initiatives and third-party vendor relations including conferences, trade associations, ESG working groups, SPO verifiers, ESG ratings providers, credit rating agencies, accounting firms and more.

Education/ Experience:
- 2-5 years of relevant experience (ESG/ sustainability, investment/ corporate banking, debt capital markets (DCM), corporate finance);
- English and Spanish speaking and writing skills required;
- Experience in ESG/ sustainability considered an asset; and
- Advanced professional designation preferred (Master’s degree, CFA, CPA).
