Job description: The Canadian Race Relations Foundation (CRRF) was created in 1996 to reaffirm the principles of justice and equality for all in Canada. The CRRF’s mandate is to facilitate throughout Canada the development, sharing, and application of knowledge and expertise to eliminate racism and all forms of racial discrimination in Canadian society.

CRRF offers workshops to Canadian organizations who wish to better their practice of anti-racism. Recently, we have started updating the content of our workshop to reflect the emerging learning needs of Canadians and updated frameworks of knowledge that have been created. To help us with this update, we’re looking for an Anti-Racism Education Consultant who has interest and experience in anti-racism education.

The Anti-Racism Education Consultant will be tasked with:

  • Conducting research on existing anti-racism frameworks and extracting key learnings shared by Canadian scholars, and case studies of successful anti-racism practice in Canada
  • Disaggregated data collection and gathering to illustrate theories and learning shared in the workshop of the challenges and successes of affected communities
  • Co-development of facilitator guides and notes
  • Provide feedback on the accessibility of language and explanations in the workshop and its associated material
  • Create a mechanism for the CRRF team to provide feedback on the workshop content
  • Assemble workshop slide deck(s) with provided materials and open-access graphics

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

  • Fluency in English and French
  • Must have Canada-focused knowledge of anti-racism scholars, community leaders, theories, and case studies
  • Must have a strong understanding of the effect of global movements of racism and anti-racism on policymaking and culture in Canada
  • Must have experience creating workshop content for adult learners
  • Must have experience creating internal processes of consultation with team members
  • Must have a strong anti-oppressive and do-no-harm approach to content building and workshop design
  • Must have strong collaboration and co-creation skills

Timeline and hours

CRRF understands that creating anti-racism content requires time and emotional labour. To meet our workshop needs, the consultant will have to complete all work by April 10, 2022. It is estimated that work will require a minimum 10 hours a week.

Compensation

Compensation will be $5,000 to $6,000 based on the consultant’s projected hours of work, payment of $125/hour
