Job Summary
The Engineering Associate II is a Process Research and Development (PRD) project team member for assigned New Product Development projects, to establish safe, cost competitive and robust processes suitable for transfer to Production. Undertakes effective planning and execution of project experimentation and the evaluation of the corresponding results. Collaborates with other project members to ensure project timelines are adhered to.
Job Responsibilities
- Participates in process safety testing, process development and optimization at the bench and larger scale.
- Tests chemical processes at the bench scale for the elucidation of critical process parameters.
- Captures essential physical, chemical kinetics and thermodynamic data and performs calculations necessary for the scale-up of given processes.
- Applies software tools for the simulation of process behaviour under different conditions.
- Completes all reports and documentation associated with assigned projects as directed.
- Acts as a member of the technology transfer team on scale-up implementation, and supplies information and/or performs laboratory experiments associated with this work as required.
- Assists in the acquisition of data from production facilities that can be used in the specification of feasible process conditions and for process simulation.
- Assists in the development, procurement, assembly and commissioning of new experimental equipment for use in process development.
- Participates in problem solving on assigned projects through careful observation, record keeping and data analysis.
- Meets all deadlines associated with projects as directed.
- Keeps the project and group leader of assigned projects up-to-date on experimental results.
- Ensures continuous professional development by regular review of field-relevant literature.
- Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements
- Education
- Minimum CET (or equivalent)
- Preference for B.Eng or M.Eng. Degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized academic institution
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Effective interpersonal skills. Fosters good relationships with other departments to ensure a co-operative, mutually respective environment resulting in rapid resolution of problems and achievement of goals.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- The ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
- The willingness to upgrade knowledge/education as required
- Experience
- No experience required with a M.Eng, or
- 2 years related experience with a B.Eng, or
- 5 years related experience with a CET (or equivalent)
