Job description: The Associate Finance Manager (Senior Financial Analyst) will optimize the financial performance and investment return of business unit(s) lead by Sr Directors/VPs. Manage business performance, identify risks/opportunities, and recommend corrective action to ensure financial goals are met.

  • Ensure reporting and financial analysis requirements are understood and prepared according to appropriate definitions and structure
  • Lead in the development of annual budgets by aligning targets with finance business partners and to assist with the setting of departmental targets based on market dynamics, historical performance, and any known capital and/or expense investments
  • Lead in the compilation of LRP cycles including modelling requirements
  • Partner with other Finance and Accounting teams such as Controllership to ensure overall accuracy of financial data
  • To assist with the tracking of assumptions and integration points between LRP and AOP commitments.
  • Monitor all risks and opportunities as they related to the above cycles
  • Initial drafting of narratives around variance and KPI trends seen in the above cycles
  • Provide support and governance of Walmart Canada’s capital expense program
  • Proactively analyze key trends, identify risks and opportunities, and support the business teams’ delivery against financial targets
  • To assist the Finance team leads with the management of performance and to hold the business teams accountable to delivery of Omni P&L results through the cadence of the weekly, monthly forecast and business review process
  • Identify opportunities to improve process and systems and implement standardized solutions across area of responsibility and other areas within finance which includes Operations, Supply chain, Real Estate, etc.
  • Support development of business case (aligned with methodology from Investment Finance team) for all initiatives that support business area strategies and prioritize Capex and Opex investment recommendations. In addition, will take on project communication and presentations to both finance and business leadership teams
  • Support multi business unit process initiative(s) to drive efficiency and simplify Omni ways of working
  • Support direct Manager with onboarding and ongoing training of new financial analyses and methodologies

  • Work experience: 3-5 years as a Senior Financial Analyst
  • CPA preferred, but not required
  • Retail, CPG, or FMCG experience is regarded an asset
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Attention to detail, high standards of execution
  • Proficiency in working with data
  • Strong problem-solving skills and natural curiosity
  • Exceptional PC skills (MS Excel, PowerPoint, SAP BI, OneStream, Essbase, MFP)
  • Able to work autonomously with multiple demands
