We are looking for an AVP, Distribution Communications & Advisor Engagement.

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto or London. The selected candidate can reasonably expect to be in our Toronto or London office about 1-3 days a week and should have the ability to commute to do so.

As the Assistant Vice President, Distribution Communications & Advisor Engagement, you will provide overall leadership to a dynamic team, supporting our distribution organization’s advisors and employees with targeted, relevant and impactful messages

You will work with partners to combine our distribution vision with product strategies and corporate communication goals to develop an integrated and cohesive communication experience. As a senior leader within Advisory Network, the incumbent will be responsible for collaborating with leaders and partners across our organization.

What you will do

  • Develop and own an industry-leading communications strategy that delivers the right messaging at the right time for key audiences (advisors, operational teams, field support and leadership)
  • Lead your team to operationalize communication plans for up to 100-120 initiatives which include tactical ‘business as usual’ activities and strategic transformation projects; actively balancing messaging conflicts for clarity and impact
  • Create, launch and own an employee communications strategy for Advisory Network team members that amplifies our business, advisor and client goals and engages employees in important dates and campaigns throughout the year
  • Curate and deliver a thought leadership strategy to elevate our voice and brand in the market with advisors
  • Be a relationship builder with business partners, by understanding their business objectives and applying a consultative approach to deliver innovative solutions that put the advisor experience at the core of our messaging strategy
  • Be a communications thought leader by ensuring your team’s deliverables are contemporary and seeking out emerging tools / media / channels for communicating with advisors
  • Establish a results driven culture that thrives on creative approaches to measuring and accelerating advisor engagement with Canada Life communications

What you will bring

  • 10+ years of leadership communications experience, preferably within financial services
  • Deep understanding of advisor based businesses and wealth/insurance distribution channels
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior leadership on the development and communication of large-scale strategies and transformation work
  • Exceptional messaging skills to develop effective messages and materials that tell compelling stories
  • Strong knowledge of emerging media; effective means of holding advisor attention
  • A partnership mindset with effective negotiation and influencing skills to drive collaborative decision making and resolve conflicts
  • Proven ability to build trusting relationships and empower multi-layer teams for delivery
  • Strong sense of self-motivation and resourceful approach to achieving results
  • University degree
