We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor, Breast Health to join our Medical Imaging. The Supervisor, Medical Imaging Breast Health Navigator, is responsible for conducting a wide range of activities to ensure excellence in providing quality patient centered care and Medical Imaging practice. They will assist in providing program/service leadership to create an environment for innovation, safety, quality and excellence. The Supervisor functions to support new and current staff in the Breast Health Center, and in addition, will work with other departments and programs to ensure the delivery of quality care and outcomes for our Breast Health patients. This person works collaboratively with the Medical Imaging management team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate competency and patient care programs.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that adherence to Hospital policies, procedures and professional standards are maintained by all Medical Imaging staff
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures and guidelines as related to Breast Health
- Provides leadership in creating, articulating, and sustaining an organization wide vision that emphasizes highest quality, patient focused care
- Evaluates processes and makes recommendations related to the human and material resources required for safe & efficient operation of all Medical Imaging equipment
- Technical expert and administrator for the commissioning, updating, and functioning of the equipment in the Breast Health Center
- Manages day to day processes that enable the delivery of high quality services to meet patient needs
- Liaison with all or any agencies as related to Breast Health including but limited to Cancer Care Ontario (CCO), Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP), Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR), Ontario Association of Radiologists (OAR), Social Services and Community Care Access Centers.
- Provides immediate supervision and leadership as well as operational & management support (including performance planning, job descriptions, and assignment of duties) to the technologists and administrative staff in conjunction with the Medical Imaging Supervisor, Registration, Administrative and Transcription.
- Develops, maintains and executes orientation and training programs in conjunction with equipment vendor applications where applicable, for employees (current and new), students and staff from other departments as required
- Conducts audits to ensure technical procedures are current, available and followed correctly
- Provides technical direction in investigating and resolving technical and clinical problems in collaboration with the technologists, administrative staff, radiology and surgical physicians as needed
- Participant in annual Medical Imaging Services audit with the Ontario Breast Screening Program reviewing our site performance metrics addressing outcomes with appropriate remedial action for follow up.
- Evaluates technical knowledge and performance of all staff. For applicable Mammography Technologists, will reference the OBSP (Ontario Breast Screening Program) technologist assessments.
- Consults/collaborates with a diverse team of physicians and clinical teams external to Medical Imaging to develop a patient focused approach to Breast Health Center services.
- Facilitates interaction and communication on behalf of the patient with other health care staff, departments and providers to coordinate care
- Develop, maintain and execute a tracking mechanism to ensure patients complete care plans
- Provide and facilitate breast health education for patient clients
- Acts as a role model for staff in continuing education (through formal and informal interaction) in order to provide continuous improvement in patient care practices
- Provides input into preparation of annual operating budget including monthly reporting of finances, volumes and associated workload.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of recent Breast Imaging experience in a hospital setting required
- Minimum of 3 years in a previous leadership and experience required in a management/supervisory capacity
- Certificate in Breast Imaging required
- Certification in Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) preferred
- Demonstrated experience working in collaboration with the Oncology and Surgical programs as is related to Breast Health at the leadership level
- Member in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
- Registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and/or Ontario Association of the Medical Radiation Sciences (OAMRS) preferred
- Experience working with the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP)
- Knowledge of Breast Imaging in MRI and ultrasound modalities
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as advanced computer skills.
- Ability to be self-directed in fast paced environment.
- Proven highly developed customer service coordination and expertise.
