Pinchin’s Winnipeg office is currently seeking for a Building Science Technologist to be a part of their Building Science and Sustainability team. As a Building Science technologist, you will provide project management functions and technical consulting services for a variety of clients and participate in staff development, including training, coordination, and quality control for junior staff within the Building Science Group.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of building structures, components, mechanical and electrical systems. Do you like staying current with technological and regulatory changes in the building science industry? We want you on our team!

What you will be doing at Pinchin

  • Prepare contract/proposal documents, reports, field inspections, recommendations, pricing and estimating for one or more building science service offerings
  • Client development, management including marketing of existing and new business service lines, as well as client education on new technological changes and trends in the buildings industry
  • Inspecting, designing, and administering remedial work including but not limited to the following components:
  • Building envelope inspections and investigations including Windows/doors, roofing, Air Vapour Barrier Membrane (AVBM), glazing systems, cladding systems
  • Building Condition Assessments, investigations, reporting, and recommendations
  • Participate in commissioning activities and reporting
  • Replacement reserve analyses
  • Assist with training and mentoring of junior staff within the group

What you bring to the Pinchin team

  • College Diploma or Degree in related discipline (Civil or Building Engineering, Architectural or Environmental Design)
  • Must maintain professional or industry accreditations/certifications related to building sciences
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, insurance & personal vehicle (work related travel expenses will be compensated)
  • Strong ethical principles, a high attention to detail, and excellent communication skills
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift boxes not exceeding 20 kg
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including (if required) respiratory protection devices, disposal clothing, work boots, hard hats, hearing protection, etc.
  • Building Science related experience preferred
