Job description: Position Overview:
The CH149 Project Management Specialist reports to the Director of Major Projects and Strategic Initiatives and has overall responsibility for the management of projects for the CH149 Canadian SAR Helicopter (CSH) program. This position is based in the Cormorant Support Centre located at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Act as the main point of contact with the Department of National Defence Weapon System Manager staff for all CSH projects.
- Lead project teams comprising of members from multiple departments.
- Provide project status reports to department managers.
- Track and report on project schedules and cost.
- Produce and review Request For Proposals, Business Cases, Proposals and other project management and contractual documentation.
- Take part in program level improvement initiatives.
- Compile and manage a projects master schedule.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Major Projects and Strategic Initiatives.
Position Requirements:
- Engineering degree, Diploma in Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- PMP designation is desirable.
- Experience and knowledge of project management best practices.
- Knowledge of the Department of National Defence Airworthiness program.
- Knowledge of aircraft systems and components.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of programs including but not limited to MS Word, MS Excel and MS Project.
- Sound interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with people at all levels within the organization and outside agencies. Capable of providing clear and detailed written and verbal communication.
- Must possess good self-discipline with an ability to work independently.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies. Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement activities in your area.
- Incumbents must be able to pass and maintain Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and Transport Canada security clearances.
- The successful applicants will be eligible to meet requirements for the U.S International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
- Applicants must be able to pass and maintain a Level II (Secret) security clearance with the Department of National Defence.
