As a result of strategic growth, we have a fantastic opportunity to join a very collaborative group working alongside our team of land engineering team of civil engineers, technologists, and planners. This role incorporates both civil design and field responsibilities and will be involved in a variety of infrastructure projects (including site grading and servicing, utility coordination, road/lot design), primarily in and around Edmonton. This team is an essential part of our Land Engineering practice and our ability to deliver excellent service to our clients. Most of the things you’ll be working on:
FIELD:
The successful candidate will provide a variety of field construction inspection and site survey services to support design and construction of municipal or regional infrastructure projects. These duties may include:
- Support site, as built and topographic surveys
- Liaise with contractors for construction process and survey needs, address minor issues
- Establish/confirm quantities for progress claims, advise Area Manager of status
- Prepare all Construction Completion Certificate inspections
- Participate in site inspection reports/monitoring
- Provide construction monitoring for QA/QC
DESIGN:
You will be working to complete designs from conceptual through to detailed design drawings, prepare various calculations and land development plans and communicate with a variety of stakeholders and approving agencies. Key responsibilities can include:
- Provide civil engineering design for urban residential development and municipal infrastructure
- Prepare calculations, model creation and drawing production reviews
- Work with the CAD Team on projects with developing plans, section details and schedules
- Review project documents prior to issuance for scope and presentation, including checking for technical accuracy
- Prepare construction survey staking plans and earthwork quantities
- Complete all submission documents for approving agencies, ie, PAC, ARA, servicing requests
- Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed cost estimates
Qualifications
You’ll need to have:
- Diploma in Civil Technology, Engineering Design or Construction Management related field
- CET Designation is preferred
- 1-4 years of Canadian experience related to civil design, civil model creation (using Civil 3D), drawing production AND exposure/experience in construction and/or civil engineering field projects
- Must be proficient using Civil 3D with good experience using MS Excel and Word are required
- Superior interpersonal skills in dealing with team collaboration and stakeholder communication
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to write effectively
- Detail oriented as accuracy is essential
- Positive, “can-do” attitude with desire for continuous learning and developing
- As short-term travel will be required periodically, must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
