As an Estimator for our Edmonton Buildings and Civil located in Edmonton Alberta, you will contribute to our team by:

• Conducting detailed analysis of contract documents and speficications for medium hard bid/lump sum projects to determine overall project requirements.
• Taking ownership of medium-sized estimates or a component of a larger estiamte and is accountable for that specific scope of work.
• Identifying associated risk factors, including monitoring of published addenda that may alter original project scope.
• Establishing a critical path schedule, including milesonte dates and completion timelines to meet contract completion dates for small to medium scopes.
• Completing full quanityt take-off of all labour, equipment and materials as required.
• Capturing and understanding trade scopes and communicates gaps/missing information.
• Creating general expense and construction schedule plan for review with lead of chief estimator and key stakeholders.
• Assisting in preparing final tender documents for submission to client ot meet contract deadline requirements.
• Scheduling scope review meetings with key trades during bid period and develops and maintains strong relationships with trad contractors for best price.
• Generating RFIs for review after reviewing specifications and drawings.
• Completing final cost estimates, adding labour, equipment material data, pricing documentation, overhead and profit margins and produces a final tender.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications

What you will bring to the role:

• Postsecondary diploma or degree in related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in civil construction cost estimating along with on-site experience preferred.
• Successfully led pursuits valued at a minimum of $25 million in delivery model hard bid/ lump sum/unit price, construction management/ cost reimbursable/ target price and/or design-build.
• Experience in self-perform estimate and productivity understanding.
• General construction knowledge; understands specifications, materials and methods and procedures gained through site visits or on-site experience.
• Intermediate knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity takeoff procedures, trade contractor procurement, interdepartmental functions, pricing and bid-closing procedures.
• Ability to use contract terms to identify risk/opportunities with contract/project documents.
• Understands impact of market conditions, business trends and competitors.
• Able to converse with and solicit trades and comfortable cold-calling.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills as an influencer with key stakeholders.
