Job title: Commercial Construction Superintendent

Job description: We are seeking an experienced Commercial Site Superintendent to lead the construction of a new commercial office space in Winnipeg, MB.

The Site Superintendent is responsible for all aspects of project management on site, including ensuring compliance with design, project specifications, regulations, timelines, and safety codes. The role will monitor workers and subcontractor’s job performances to ensure duties are being completed. The Site Superintendent must have a strong dedication to health and safety, ensuring all workers and subcontractors perform their duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and manage all construction operations
  • Direct all site personnel and ensure quality and safety of all work performed
  • Coordinate with trade contractors for proper construction sequencing
  • Maintain accurate and concise records of cost codes and verify site costs against budget
  • Develop the overall project schedule; maintain and revise as required
  • Assist subcontractor(s) in scheduling their work and provide direction where necessary
  • Co-ordinate equipment and manpower to achieve schedule requirements
  • Responsible for working with Project Management on all field aspects of the projects budget, schedule, design and productivity
  • Code, verify, and approve time sheets, purchase orders, work authorities, etc.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with Project Managers, trade contractors, architects, consultants and client
  • Negotiate contracts and work within established budgets
  • Ensure effective and timely communication with the client

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-10 years of experience in commercial construction
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all building techniques, building codes, and safety regulations associated with the construction of commercial buildings
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and architectural drawings
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with effective relationship-building abilities
  • Excellent organization and management skills to achieve project deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability in leadership, decision making and taking ownership
  • Highly effective negotiation, diplomatic, and conflict resolutions skills
