Job title: Construction Site Manager, Rail & Transit
Job description: TORONTO
WSP is currently seeking a Construction Site Manager to add to our Rail and Transit team. You will work from a dedicated project site in the Toronto Area. Reporting to Construction Manager or Deputy Construction Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the administration of Construction Contracts, ensuring project safety and construction activity and progress reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordination of communication between Contractor, Contracting Authority and Designer on construction projects
- Assisting in the evaluation of Contractor claims and participating in their resolution.
- Issuing instructions to the Contractor
- Participating in the evaluation, negotiation and approval of Contract Changes
- Reviewing and approving the Contractor’s construction schedule updates with participation from members of the project team as required
- Reviewing Contractor requests for payment prior to submittal for final approval by the Contracting Authority
- Remain cognizant of and enforcing the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects
- Be vigilant to safety conditions on site and promptly act when they are discovered.
- Ensuring that all construction site staff maintain a daily diary of construction activities and prepare daily progress reports
- Preparing a variety of other forms/reports including: operations work order requests, work car requests, power cut requests, Property Damage and/or personal injury reports, pre and post construction reports, survey reports, concrete pre and post pour reports, concrete placement reports, safety/incident reports and assorted other reports as required;
- Other duties as assigned/required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 10 years experience managing and/or administering multi-trade/discipline contracts in ICI and heavy civil/industrial Construction
- Proven team player with the skills and ability to build and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Strong written and verbal communication skills along with excellent business and technical writing proficiency
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills
- Proficient at reading and understanding construction schematics
- Must have valid JHSC Certification or obtain within the first 12 months following start date
- Other professional and technical designations are an asset
- Experience with transit construction projects – (e.g. railway, subway, light rail, buses) is considered an asset
- Experience with transit agency (e.g. TTC, Metrolinx) is an asset
