Job description: Position Overview

The Department of Graduate Sciences Education in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Curriculum Consultant. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

The Curriculum Consultant will report to the Graduate Program Director, Precision Health Programs, and will coordinate with instructional designers supporting courses on statistics and AI in precision health.

This Recurring part-time position is an hourly position with variable hours. Recurring part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Participate in development of AI/machine learning focused course and module for Precision Health program
  • Documents the backward-design process
  • Develops video and audio learning material for the relevant courses and/or online module material
  • Aid in the drafting of course outlines
  • Work with other instructors and TAs to develop and deliver courses in AI/machine learning applications to Precision Health
  • Coordinate and provides tutorial orientation for students. This may include designing, developing and updating the online orientation module(s) for student
  • Contributes case study examples of AI/machine learning applications in health
  • Encourages interest in AI/machine learning tools for students; there may be opportunities to participate in original research as a natural extension of this position
  • Through research and integration with the current literature, stays abreast and works to incorporate new applications that would enhance the courses and/or modules being developed
  • Assists with the technical aspect of the evaluation of online courses or components

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in a related discipline and demonstrated experience with applying AI/machine-learning technologies to problems in health required
  • 1-2 years of related learning technologies required
  • Background in biomarker prediction and/or related health-application of predictive analytics
  • Teaching experience either in classroom or online-based modalities
  • Experience with common AI/machine learning applications and ability to develop learning materials around them
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical concepts to faculty members and students to build their understanding and confidence in applying AI/machine-learning tools
  • Evidence of passion for staying current on changes in technology and ability to assess the applicability of new or changing applications of AI/machine learning in health
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective service oriented working relationships with students, faculty, and staff
  • Proven ability to work independently but also in a highly collaborative fashion with individuals across the organization
