Job description: EXPLEO CANADA is looking for a Design Engineer at Cost, Designer and Integrator to join a dynamic and expanding team in Mirabel, QC.

Responsibilities:

• Work in an integrated engineering product development team providing one-to-one design-to-cost (DtC) expertise for the design and manufacture of aerospace components (metallic and composite aircraft structure, systems installation, and hardware / materials)
• Participate in the identification of design ideas related to Design to Cost (DtC)
• Analyze the current technical design and propose new design initiatives at cost
• Develop and maintain a Design to Cost idea tracking tool for the Mirabel site and lead / participate in various related governance meetings
• Develop the Design to Cost action plan, coordinate its implementation and draw conclusions
• Make recommendations to senior management on strategies to achieve cost reduction objectives
• Prioritize the implementation of cost reduction ideas, based on ROI (Return on Investment) but also other criteria and program requirements
• Define processes and strategies around the batch / combination of ideas to facilitate the implementation of design improvements
• Review supplier drawings, dimensional tolerances, definition of part numbers, manufacturing processes, process capabilities, tooling philosophy and provide recommendations as needed
• Participate in the Design to Cost initiative on other customer programs to see what can be done on the aircraft program
• Support the integration team in the preparation of the Design to Cost Product Change Request (PCR)
• Maintain current and up-to-date aerospace knowledge to recommend innovations to support the objectives of cost reduction initiatives.

Qualifications:

• University degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or a related field of design, constraints, materials and processes or project engineering
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in aircraft manufacturing structure and organization
• Good understanding of aerospace design, stress analysis, manufacturing and quality processes for metallic and composite structures, system installation and equipment / materials
• Prior experience in cost-effective design activities or other aircraft program optimization activities, an asset
• Great communication skills: can explain a complex problem in simple words
• Be able and efficient to manage several projects in parallel
• Have a high sense of commitment and a willingness to accept responsibility while acting autonomously in a high-pressure environment and ramping up production
• Experience working with Catia V5 tools and Microsoft
• Fluent in both French and English
